{"id":278,"date":"2018-07-06T17:52:17","date_gmt":"2018-07-06T17:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web1.dharma.org\/?page_id=278"},"modified":"2018-07-06T17:52:53","modified_gmt":"2018-07-06T17:52:53","slug":"tempeh-marbella","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.dharma.org\/resources\/recipes\/tempeh-marbella\/","title":{"rendered":"Tempeh Marbella"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<h3>Serves 6<\/h3>\n<p>1 lb. tempeh<br \/>\n2 cloves garlic \u2013 minced<br \/>\n2 tablespoons capers (rinsed)<br \/>\n1\/4 cup pitted Kalamata olives (or stuffed green olives) \u2013 roughly chopped<br \/>\n1\/2 cup prunes \u2013 roughly chopped<br \/>\n4 tablespoons olive oil<br \/>\n4 tablespoons tamari<br \/>\n4 tablespoons water<br \/>\n4 tablespoons red wine vinegar<br \/>\n4 tablespoons cooking sherry (optional but tasty)<br \/>\n1 tablespoon basil, chopped fresh or dried<br \/>\n1 tablespoon marjoram, dried<br \/>\nSalt and pepper to taste<\/p>\n<h2>Preparation<\/h2>\n<h3>To prepare the tempeh:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Cut tempeh into 1 inch cubes, or break into bite-sized pieces by hand, and place in a saucepan with an inch of water.<\/li>\n<li>Steam tempeh for 10 minutes to hydrate and plump up. Set aside until the marinade is prepared.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>To prepare the marinade:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Mince garlic.<\/li>\n<li>Combine the minced garlic, capers, olive oil, tamari, water, red wine vinegar, sherry (optional), basil and marjoram, salt and pepper. Stir well.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>To prepare the dish:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Place tempeh, chopped olives and chopped prunes in a well-oiled oven dish.<\/li>\n<li>Ladle the marinade into the pans and stir to coat the tempeh.<\/li>\n<li>Cover the pan and let tempeh and other ingredients marinate for an hour or more. Stir frequently.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>To bake the tempeh marbella:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 375 degrees (conventional).<\/li>\n<li>Bake the marbella covered, for about 40 minutes, stirring occassionally, until it\u2019s hot throughout and some of the tempeh browns.
